Ricciardo: the RB13 seems to be the fastest on the planet

Are you eager to return to competition?

I miss race weekends. Although I was a little exhausted and wanted a vacation last year, the season was so busy, the desire to ride is strongest after the winter break.

What will be your goal for 2017?

The main objective for this season is to return to the top step of the podium.

Can you describe the principles of the new regulation?

We can hope with the new regulations to have more competitive and intense races, if we put aside the fact that the single-seaters will be more aggressive. I won't even be able to explain in detail what's changing because I just get in the car and drive. It's still nice to have wider tires to generate more mechanical grip without having any aero disturbances.

Will the driving really be better?

The cars will be harder to drive. They will require you to be in perfect physical condition, which is why we train more than usual. We will also have to be more reactive because the corners will come faster, but I have good reflexes because I am still young.

What are your first impressions of the RB13 presented this Sunday February 26?

La car looks beautiful from the pictures we received. It truly feels like the fastest car on the planet. As for #13, I'm not superstitious at all. I think these are excuses when things aren't going well.

What is the general atmosphere in the team before the start of the season?

The motivation within the team is at the highest level. It's very positive to have a competitive teammate because I can measure myself against him. You always want to beat your teammate and he is not easy to beat, but it helps you move forward and evolve in the right direction. The team may be happy to have a crew that pushes each other.

How are you feeling ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix on March 26?

Melbourne is like a doubleheader. Everyone is both excited and anxious for the start of the season, but it's also my home race and the spectators want to see me win. It's a lot of pressure, but I get something positive from it.
