The weekends keep coming and things don't seem to be getting any better for Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren). While his teammate Lando Norris easily reached Q3 in Miami (Florida), the Australian stopped in Q2 and will have a lot to do from 14th place.

The old pilot Red Bull et Renault pointed out poor timing of his team's exit from the pits. “We had a good Q1, positive on my side, without any problem. But there was a problem in Q2 in the garage and I came out too late to properly prepare my tires. I had to attack on my exit lap and it wasn't ideal. Everything was compromised. We could have had a much better place on the grid with a little more luck. »

Luck, success, or work? While we could expect clear progress in this second year of contract with McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo is standing still. Only a sixth place in front of his supporters in Melbourne saved a dull spring (11th in the Championship). The comparison with Lando Norris, who becomes a little more indisputable in the English team (6th) with each race, hurts.

“For the race, there are quite a few teams and cars in front of us, but if it fights in the first corner and I can gain a few positions, the top 10 is possible. We have nothing to lose. I'm a little disappointed today (Saturday) but I have nothing to reproach myself for. »
