Ricciardo surprised by lack of grip in Mexico

If for several Grands Prix, Red Bull Racing is the most serious opponent of Mercedes, yesterday in Mexico, the Red Bulls of the pair Verstappen - Ricciardo seemed further behind, leaving the role of major competitor of the W07 Hybrid to Ferrari et Sebastian Vettel.

Max Verstappen notably experienced a day marked by the start of a fire on his car, following a brake overheating problem, and lost valuable driving time. « Due to the weather lost, Yippee am still not completely satisfied with the setup of the car on short stints, mentioned the Dutchman. Mhave I think we have found a good one rythme on longer relays. »

No worries therefore for the young prodigy from Milton Keynes, while his Australian teammate highlighted the relatively complicated track conditions yesterday in Mexico City. « It was really difficult to find the good setup with those conditions, admits Ricciardo.

When there is little grip, vYou reprise the theme of the have a little understeer et also a little oversteer so the adjustment of the car is delicate. I think that we have progressed compared to the morning, but there is still progress faire in lot that we go yet prepare to face a track always with a low adhesion and try to improve the balance.

I think that it should be better, but I expected it to a grip of track higher compared to last year, but it was still very sliding. »

The degradation of the rubbers is the main problem encountered by the teams in Mexico, the phenomenon of graining, particularly on the super-soft and soft rubbers having been quite marked yesterday in free practice.
