Romain Grosjean: “The “B” F1 I’m in is pretty cool”

After waiting for the Austrian Grand Prix to score his first points of the season, Romain Grosjean found a series of results more in line with expectations at the start of the championship.

With an ambitious vision about to Haas which benefits from the technical partnership with the Team Ferrari, the Frenchman and his teammate Kevin Magnussen are in the running to fight for fourth place in the Manufacturers' standings against Renault, far behind the three “big arms” that are Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull.

But a situation that does not displease the former Lotus resident F1 Team, even if Haas cannot compete on equal terms with the top teams. “The problem is that today there are two F1 cars coexisting on the track, Grosjean tells us.

The F1 “B” I’m in is pretty cool with some great fights. Once it's us who take control, another time it's Force India, Renault, Sauber or Toro Rosso. There is action, competition, suspense. In fact, everything that is missing from the racing head.

We leave for Austin knowing that there will be a Mercedes or a Ferrari on pole with the Red Bulls behind. A slightly crazy qualifying can result in an interesting grid, but everything quickly returns to normal in the race.

Look what happened to my 5th place on the grid at Suzuka. Whether they start in front or behind, they put a trick on us either way. We only see blue: the blue flag! They have their race and we have ours. The cars are extremely reliable, engine failures are extremely rare, no one runs out of fuel anymore. There are no more surprises. No more unexpected events. »

Romain Grosjean will be keen to regain the points this weekend during the home Grand Prix for Haas F1 Team, on the Austin track in Texas.
