Romain Grosjean: “A little surprise”

Qualifications in the clan Lotus took place on two levels. As much as Pastor Maldonado was quickly eliminated in Q1, after struggling with his Pirelli tires as since the start of the weekend in Singapore, Romain Grosjean hoisted its E23 Hybrid, powered by the V6 turbo / hybrid Mercedes in tenth place.

The Frenchman, who admitted at a press conference last Thursday to having done his choice regarding his career for 2016, believes that the work done with his team, particularly on the use of super-soft tires, has paid off. “We had to work hard to get into Q3, both on track during the session and with my engineers. It's a little surprise that everything worked perfectly and we managed to get into Q3, so I'm quite happy. I really pushed hard on the circuit yesterday. I was really close to some walls. »

Alan Permanente, head of track operations for trainingenstone, reminds that the management of Pirelli envelopes will be a crucial element for the race. “We are looking at a two- or three-stop strategy. We have a good chance to get big points. »

The Singapore Grand Prix will start at 14 p.m. and can be followed live with commentary on AUTOhebdo.fr.
