Pierre Gasly in Alpine, Nyck de Vries finally holder in F1, Nico Hulkenberg is making a comeback... The 2023 season has not yet started and it already promises to be very lively. The level of the field seems to be suddenly higher thanks to the various transfers and arrivals, the result of the movements caused by the silly season. So for this new year of competition, AUTOhebdo invites you to discover some figures on the new features on the grid.
6 new pairs
And yes, 6 new pairs will be formed for this 2023 season. On the side of France andAlpine, Esteban Ocon will have a new teammate in the person of Pierre Gasly who was chosen to replace Fernando Alonso. At 41, the Spaniard will begin a new adventure by joining Aston Martin where it will be associated with Lance stroll, thus replacing Sebastian Vettel retired.
Also note the first tenure for Nyck de Vries. After replacing Alex Albon off the cuff at the last Italian Grand Prix and above all impressed, the Dutchman saw Red Bull knock on his door. The former protégé of Mercedes then decided to change sides to bounce back with Alpha Tauri alongside Yuki tsunoda. Mick Schuamcher asked to look elsewhere, Haas has decided to bring Nico Hülkenberg out of his “pre-retirement”. After three years on the sidelines, the German finds a steering wheel and will share the American team's garage with Kevin Magnussen.
There are also the last rookies left. Besides Nyck de Vries, Oscar piastri et Logan sargeant will make their Formula 1 debut this year. The first will roll for McLaren as a teammate of Lando Norris, the second for Williams of which he was a member of the academy supporting Alex Albon.

After a season with only one rookie (Guanyu-Zhou in 2022), F1 will host three in 2023! They are Nyck de Vries (AlphaTauri), Oscar Piastri (McLaren) and Logan Sargeant (Williams).

The most represented nationality is British with 3 drivers: Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
