Rosberg hoped to take more points from Hamilton

Nico Rosberg managed to take victory at the Spanish GP after starting from pole. The German only had to manage his lead, his teammate Lewis Hamilton being in a duel for 2nd place against Sebastian Vettel. The winner of the weekend was hopeful of seeing the quadruple world champion defeat the Briton, but his compatriot finally gave in to the second Mercedes.

“It’s in fact 7 points back”, calculated Nico Rosberg which came back to 20 points behind the Championship leader. “I thought at one point that Sebastian could keep Lewis behind him. It wouldn't have been good for the team but it would have been better for me in terms of points. It's always a matter of compromise. It's like that, but seven points is better than nothing. »

Nico Rosberg claimed his 9th Grand Prix victory. This is his first success since the 2014 Brazilian GP.
