Nico Rosberg appeared to be well established in the race lead at the Singapore Grand Prix, but an extra stop from Daniel Ricciardo redistributed the cards at the end of the test. The driver's 20 second lead Mercedes melted away in the final laps, the Australian having super soft tires against the German's soft rubber.

Nico Rosberg retained the advantage for only four tenths ahead of the driver Red Bull which failed to make a direct attack on the W07 Hybrid.

“This weekend was incredible for me between pole and my superb start, commented Nico Rosberg who won for the first time at Marina Bay. My team informed me ten or 15 laps from the finish that he would be right behind me at the end of the race and that was indeed the case. I had to do everything perfectly in my last stint. »

“The tires held up well. As I started my last lap, I knew it was going to be enough because Daniel's tires were no longer new enough”, specified Nico Rosberg.

The winner of the Singapore Grand Prix, who scored his eighth victory this season, was also asked about his reaction to seeing a marshal on the track when the race had resumed following the intervention of the safety car which had come out at the start. test following the accident Nico Hulkenberg.

“It was obviously surprising. I think he was surprised as much as we were by how quickly the race resumed. Fortunately, he was able to get to safety quickly”, commented the Mercedes driver.

With fourth place in Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg regained the lead of the Championship with an eight-point lead with six Grands Prix remaining at the end of the season. A great way to celebrate its 200th Grand Prix.

“I’m not focused on points. I always say I'm just enjoying my victory.", assured Nico Rosberg.
