Rosberg: 'I might support Hamilton'

Nico Rosberg made the trip this Tuesday, December 13 to Paris to the Canal+ premises to look back on his 2016 season, his retirement from F1 and his personal projects. The German showed no regrets about his decision and seems to be satisfied with what he achieved.

“I'm doing this tour thinking about my Championship, not my retirement, explained the reigning world champion. In a week, when everything ends, it might be very weird. I dreamed of this title since I was 6 years old. I was obviously inspired by my father but I made this goal my own. I also wanted to win the Monaco Grand Prix. My father knew how to support me and step aside at the right time. »

Nico Rosberg will now follow his former teammate's progress Lewis Hamilton by having a part of him that will hope that the Briton wins more titles.

“Maybe I will support him in 2017 because my title could be even more valuable. I had the impression that I had been fighting against him my whole career and that he always managed to be just a little bit ahead of me.", explained the German.

Nico Rosberg still admitted to having difficulty announcing his retirement to the team Mercedes with whom he was still under contract.

“It was putting Mercedes in this situation that was the most difficult. Toto was very understanding, but Niki took a little longerhe said. Bottas and Wehrlein are two good candidates to succeed me. I wanted to leave feeling at the top and I wanted to enjoy my family, you can't enjoy that while being an F1 driver. Despite everything, I am looking for new projects and I want to stay in touch with motorsport. Jacques (Villeneuve) once told me to continue as long as possible, I didn't listen to him and I am calm about my decision. »
