Rosberg: Pole is worth less without Hamilton

After retiring at Silverstone, Nico Rosberg found success in qualifying for the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim. While the Mercedes seemed ready for a new duel for pole, Lewis Hamilton lost control of his W05 following a broken brake disc sending him into a wall of tires during the first qualifying session. THE Williams were unable to compete with the German who scored his fifth pole of the season, the ninth of his career.

“It’s fantastic to be on pole at home, but I would have preferred a fair fight with Lewis”, declared Nico Rosberg after qualifying in the heat. “I was a little less happy with this result because Lewis didn't have a chance at the end, but it was still a great day for me. However, we don't score any points today and we will have a lot to do tomorrow. I didn't have any details on the other car, but it didn't happen on mine. I was comfortable and I could continue to attack. »

If the latest forecasts indicate that the risk of storms is receding, the conditions should still be more pleasant with lower temperatures which will allow the tires to resist longer. “It should be a little cooler.” The tires are really very soft and the degradation is very significant. The weather could therefore play a role and we will have to adapt to it. »

The start of the German Grand Prix will be at 14 p.m. and will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr. Photos of the event can be viewed on this link.
