Rosberg takes his place in the lead

The German lowers the reference mark to 1:21:588 on the Catalan circuit, ahead of his teammate Nakajima (1:21:740), Alonso (1?21??781) and Barrichello (1?21??843). The four drivers are the only ones to have managed to go below 1?22??. Jenson Button, faster in the morning session, did not manage to go below this limit, which he was the only one to cross during the first session.

Kazui Nakajima (Williams) was the big entertainer of this second free practice session, setting the best time on several occasions. He had to face the good times of Rubens Barrichello (Brawn), more prominent than his teammate. Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) also took its turn in lowering the reference time, approaching to less than a tenth of 1?22??. Fernando Alonso (Renault), 17th in the morning, brilliantly climbed into the Top 3, bringing his best time to the level of the leading single-seaters. But Nico Rosberg emerged as the big winner from this test session, having set the best time under 1:22?? three times.
