Rosberg questions Mercedes dominance

Nico Rosberg won his fifth victory of the season on June 19 at the European Grand Prix contested for the first time on the urban circuit of Baku (Azerbaijan). If the long straights favored single-seaters powered by Mercedes, the performances of the W07 Hybrids were enough to surprise the Championship leader who won by almost 17 seconds on Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari), his closest pursuer, after having completed a solo race.

“Unfortunately I don't know why, but we have to analyze it to understand because the car was incredibly fast, recognized Nico Rosberg, cited by ESPN F1. The first stint was the best because I knew I had to create the gap in case of unforeseen events like a safety car and things worked pretty well. I felt really confident behind the wheel. »

Although the European Grand Prix did not offer one of the most exciting events of the season, Nico Rosberg nevertheless enjoyed the event.

“It wasn’t boring. This track is one of the most exciting on the calendar because you cannot relax for a single moment. You end up directly into the wall if you brake five meters too late in certain turns. I felt in harmony with my car and that doesn't happen every day. I could attack knowing that I wasn’t taking the risk of making a mistake”, added the Mercedes driver.

His teammate Lewis Hamilton couldn't fight for victory, settling for fifth place, after making a mistake during qualifying and encountering mechanical problems in the race.

La F1 will resume its rights on July 3 with the Austrian Grand Prix contested on the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
