Sauber and Nasr seize their chance at Interlagos

2016 will not look like 2014 in terms of accounting for the teamHinwil. Monisha Kaltenborn's troops will not end the racing season with a new accounting clean sheet as was the case two years ago, for the first year of the era of V6 turbo/hybrid Power Units.

The consequence of an almost unexpected result achieved by Felipe Nasr yesterday on the Interlagos route. Taking advantage of the weather conditions and the multiple racing incidents, the Brazilian, on his home soil, brought a crucial ninth place for the Swiss team, which allowed it to overtake Manor Racing in the Manufacturers' standings.

« I have no words to say how happy I am, admits Nasr. When I saw the weather forecast for Sunday, I knew this could be an opportunity. The opportunity came, and I was ready to take it.

We did an exceptional job. The team gave me very good indications regarding the track conditions based on my feedback. It was a difficult race, as the conditions were very difficult at times.

In the end, it was an incredible feeling to see the fans in the stands cheering for me after the checkered flag. There is no better feeling than scoring these two important points at home. I couldn't have hoped for a better Sunday in Brazil. »

“I would like to thank the entire team present on the circuits, as well as at the headquarters in Hinwil, emphasizes Team Principal Monisha Kaltenborn. Despite the difficult circumstances, the team has always worked very hard and believed in their abilities so these points are well deserved.

We knew it was possible to score points in wet conditions, even starting from the back of the pack. Felipe made this possible with an exceptional performance here at Interlagos. »

With one point now separating Sauber and Manor, the final meeting in Abu Dhabi will be crucial in view of the coveted tenth in the Manufacturers' championship and the financial redistributions made in view of the general classification.
