Sauber F1 Team stays with Ferrari

After announcing the cancellation of its partnership with Honda, Sauber F1 Team has confirmed the extension of its contract with Ferrari for several years with whom it has worked since 1997. The Swiss team has specified that it will have the latest version of the Italian Power Unit in 2018.

“I am very pleased to confirm that we will continue to work with Scuderia Ferrari as an engine supplier with a multi-year agreement, comments Frédéric Vasseur, Team Principal of Sauber F1 Team. The experience shared with Sauber F1 Team and Ferrari has created a solid foundation that will allow us to move forward effectively, particularly with the development of the 2018 car.”

“I am confident that we can achieve results that reflect our passion and determination that has always been present within Sauber F1 Team.”, adds Frédéric Vasseur.

The extension of the partnership between Sauber F1 Team and Ferrari could open a door to Charles Leclerc, member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, which currently dominates the F2 with Prema Racing after finishing best rookie F3 in 2015 and GP3 Series champion in 2016.
