Sauber is seeing sixth place in the Championship gradually slip away following the return to the forefront of Force India, which shone at the last Singapore Grand Prix by placing its two cars in the points. If the urban track put the C30s at a disadvantage compared to the fast corners of Suzuka, the Swiss team had to react as quickly as possible so as not to let the Indian team escape.
James Key announced that major developments were planned for the single-seaters this weekend at Suzuka. “We are going to bring a significant aerodynamic package to the car”, confirms the technical director of Sauber. “It will include new front and rear wings and new deflectors, new brake ducts as well as modifications to the flat bottom. These developments have been planned for a long time for Suzuka and they should help us make good progress if they prove effective. »
Sauber must improve its pace and results to catch up with Force India. Time is running out for the Swiss team with five events remaining to be contested. “We must turn our backs on our bad luck,” adds James Key. “The last part of the season includes circuits which should suit our cars well. A good result in Japan would be really good because we will have lots of fans supporting us. »
