Sebastian Vettel did not expect such a time in Brazil

Sebastian Vettel does not seem to want to end his series of successes where he is setting a new record with eight successes in a row. The four-time world champion claimed his ninth pole of the season, the 45th of his career, at the Brazilian Grand Prix which concludes the season. Contested in particularly changeable wet conditions, qualifying could offer hope of surprises on the starting grid. The final qualifying session was also delayed by 40 minutes following heavy showers and Sergio Pérez's accident in Q2.

With a time of 1'26"479 achieved in his first flying lap with green sidewall tires in the last qualifying session, Sebastian Vettel was more than half a second ahead of his closest rival, Nico Rosberg. “It was very surprising. I was very happy with my stint in Q3”, commented the reigning champion in the Sao Paulo paddock, after also relegating his teammate Mark Webber to more than a second. “It took a while to leave the pits after Q2, but I was surprised to see how much of the water had drained when we came out. We took the intermediates and I immediately had a very good ride. I tried to beat her and I was very close and I'm very happy with my two rounds. We had very few tests and the car always meets my expectations. »

The start of the Brazilian Grand Prix will be given tomorrow at 17 p.m. and will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr. Photos of the tests can be found on this link.
