Sebastian Vettel: “Too much understeer on entry”

With a regular 11th place, Sebastian Vettel sign in Austria one of his worst qualifying performances in recent seasons.

The pilot of the Team Ferrari suffered this Saturday during the afternoon session, failing to advance to Q3 by finishing in the wake of his teammate Charles Leclerc, just qualified for the last part of the session with the 10th fastest time in Q2.

A less than rosy picture, but which once again confirms the difficulties expected by Scuderia Ferrari by presenting itself at this first meeting of the year 2020, with a car which has hardly changed since the winter tests. But the overall result is far from Maranello standards.

" It is a surprise, underlines the German. We have a little more under the pedal, but it seems that some had more gas or were more conservative in testing. I was not satisfied with the car, with too much understeer when entering a curve than I would like.

But tomorrow is a different story. With the track heating up, it didn't help us today. It will be a long race. In race pace, we are generally better. We will be there to move up positions and score good points. »

Qualifying was not much more successful for Charles Leclerc who only set the 7th fastest time. The developments which should take place for the third Grand Prix of the season in Hungary must undoubtedly already be more than expected by the German-Monegasque duo.
