Sergio Pérez heavily sanctioned in Singapore

Eight penalty places and three points less on his license. This is the sanction imposed by the stewards of the Singapore Grand Prix on Sergio Pérez for not having respected the yellow flags during qualifying held this afternoon on the Marina Bay circuit.

Sergio Pérez received a five-place penalty and three points on his license for not slowing down sufficiently in Q2 when the yellow flag was displayed following Romain Grosjean (Haas) and the judgment of Jenson Button (McLaren).

The Mexican then received three additional penalty places for overtaking Esteban Gutiérrez (Haas) at turn 9 while the yellow flag was still flying.

Qualified in tenth position, Sergio Pérez should fall to 18th place. The Force India driver would then start between Felipe Nasr (Sauber) and Jolyon Palmer (Renault).
