Esteban Ocon expects thatAlpine takes a significant step forward this weekend at Silverstone, thanks to the developments that will benefit the A522. “We normally have a good chunk of our upgrades coming in, so this should be a good step for us. It’s a big week ahead of us! » The Norman knows that all the men and women ofenstone will be on deck to prepare for this first Grand Prix " at home ", the second obviously being the French GP, at the end of July and separated by the Austrian Grand Prix. “A lot of work upstream to have the developments that were planned a little later, he congratulates himself. This is going in the right direction, and should allow us to get the car from where it is now to where it needs to be! Since the start of the year, we have improved more than many other teams. »

It is true that things are not idle at Enstone since the changes made at Silverstone will be the sixth in ten races! Unlike other teams which prefer to introduce several developments at once at a less regular interval, Alpine follows a development strategy which consists of bringing new parts “as soon as they are ready” explains Alan Permanente, sports director ofAlpine. However, the Briton knows that his team will not be the only one to rely on Silverstone to make improvements. “A lot of teams will come to Silverstone with improvements and, in the end, ours should probably be enough to keep our heads above water. »

For now, the A522's strong point is its top speed which makes it difficult to overtake as Baku and Montreal have recently shown. The A Fléché team, which remains on three double entries in the points, has McLaren in the spotlight and would like to take advantage of his trip to Northamptonshire to make up for his return of 8 points with the Woking firm and take off againstAlfa Romeo, 6 points behind her, also a candidate for P4 in the Manufacturers' championship.
