Stefanovic: takeover of USF1?

Zoran Stefanovic, rejected by the FIA a few weeks ago, is ready to do anything to line up two cars on the starting grids of Formula 1. First there was the takeover of the F1 activity of Toyota, which guaranteed strong rears for Stefan GP. But the FIA never granted entry to this project, so it never saw the light of day, even though Zoran Stefanovic did run the engine of the Stefan-01.

On Monday, Zoran Stefanovic announced that he had severed his relations with Toyota but now, it is a takeover of USF1 which is being discussed in the Melbourne paddock. Zoran Stefanovic would have the ambition to buy back – or has even already done so? the American team, in order to recover its entry ticket on the 2010 starting grids. But several problems stand in the way of this project.

1. With which cars? If USF1 did not wish to take part in the 1 Formula 2010 World Championship, it was because it did not feel capable, technically and financially. What interest would Stefan GP find in a team where everything has to be done or, at best, finished?

2. The bill will be steep. If Stefanovic takes USF1's place on the grid, he will have to pay the fine that USF1 would receive for missing the first Grands Prix of the season. There is no doubt that such a sword of Damocles could undermine the project.

3. What about negotiations? A few weeks ago, Stefanovic called USF1 “ American dreamers » and seemed to have broken off all discussions with Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor. It?s quite a turnaround if it turns out that the two parties have reached an agreement.

Two weeks after the start of the Formula 1 season, projects continue to flourish and vagueness reigns supreme. Especially since, during the Bahrain Grand Prix, everyone was able to see that it was not desirable for a team to take to the track without any preparation.
