Steiner (Haas): Getting rid of the breakdowns that affect the VF19

Ignition problem for Pietro fittipaldi, electrical problems for Romain Grosjean : the day of Haas F1 Team will not have been the simplest this Wednesday. The American team was, however, able to accumulate more than 115 laps on the track with its two drivers, but the record could clearly have been better.

Small avatars that Günther Steiner, Team Principal of the training created by Gene Haas, wants to see disappear as quickly as possible.

“It was a good morning of testing for Pietro with lots of laps, underlines the manager. He did a good job. It's pretty incredible even as he debuts in this environment, with all eyes on him, and he delivers a mature testing performance.

During the rest of the day, there were too many stops on the track. We need to get rid of these breakdowns. However, we covered good mileage. We are still learning, but we want to speed up the process to prepare for the Australian Grand Prix. »

Romain Grosjean, who lost two hours in the Haas garage, also keeps the positive side of this day, and more generally on the discovery of the VF19.

“It’s not a bad day to be honest, comments the Frenchman. Yes, we came back on the tow truck several times after having to stop the car on track, but that's part of the testing. We have to determine what the limits are and what we can improve on the car.

It's not ideal and we'd like to do more miles, but the more we drive, the more we find the car gets better. The feeling in the cockpit is good. Progress has been made since Monday, and I am already happy. I am quite satisfied with all the work accomplished. »

Haas F1 Team will change its lines tomorrow with Romain Grosjean in action in the morning in place of Fittipaldi, Kevin Magnussen being responsible for finishing the day.
