Steiner: Hülkenberg is “a brute”

Günther Steiner defended his pilot Kevin Magnussen despite the Dane's harsh remarks against Nico Hülkenberg. The pilot Renault came to explain himself after the race while the Haas resident F1 Team was in interview. The latter responded with an insult.

Nico Hulkenberg did not appreciate a maneuver by his rival who pushed him off the track while the two drivers were fighting for 11th place. Kevin Magnussen was penalized 5s, dropping him from 11th to 13th place.

“Nico destroyed Romain’s race (Grosjean, hit by the Renault driver) and he then had a penalty with Kevin and he was right to stand up to him in my opinion. Nico went to the stewards to ask for a harsher punishment for Kevin, which is childish and immature”, commented Günther Steiner.

“I’m almost speechless. I respect Nico as a driver and a human, but what he did cannot be done. He's a bully and he's been coping very well with it for a while. Maybe it was time someone put him in his place. He's a good driver but he doesn't need to be like that." added the Haas F1 Team Team Principal.
