Steve Nielsen F1 sporting director

Steve Nielsen was chosen by the FIA et Ross Brawn as the new sports director of the Formula 1 within the motorsport division. He will take up his new position from 1er August.

« I have known Steve for a very long time and the first thing I noticed about him were his talents and abilities, explains Ross Brawn.

« His presence will serve to solidify the working group we are forming with the FIA ​​and the teams to define a project path for the technical and sporting innovations of the next phase of F1.

During his career which began in the 1980s, Nielsen mainly worked as a team manager and sporting director of teams starting with Team Lotus in 1986 until Toro Rosso in 2012. Since 2014, Nielsen was the sports director of Williams F1 Team.

« Steve's main responsibility will be sporting and organizational, such as being present at meetings of the Sports Working Group for example.."
