Follow the Abu Dhabi GP qualifying with live text
Two men are the favorites for this 21st qualifying session of 2019: Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and Max Verstappen (Red Bull). The Finn set the best time in the two free practice sessions on Friday, before the Dutchman took control again on Saturday morning.
However, the 2019 world vice-champion experienced an adventure when he hit the Haas de Romain Grosjean. Already relegated to the back of the grid after changing mechanical elements, Valtteri Bottas decided to change his MGU-K, MGU-H as well as his turbo after this shock.
One of the most important issues of this session is the fight between Renault et Toro Rosso for fifth place in the Manufacturers' standings. The French single-seaters, struggling on the Yas Marina circuit, run the risk of being pipped to the post by the Italian cars.
