Sutil has ambitious goals with Force India

Adrian Sutil won the regular driver contract at Force India, forcing his rival Jules Bianchi to find an alternative solution offered with Marussia F1 Team. The German intends to prove to Vijay Mallya and his team that they made the right choice by delivering solid performances at the wheel of the VJM06. Despite his absence last year which he will have to quickly fill, the former Spyker driver is confident about his abilities.

“Paul (di Resta) and I had a very good 2011 season and our goal for this season will be to beat Sauber and Williams » he commented on the official F1 website. “We will see if this is possible because no one can predict a hierarchy before Melbourne and it obviously depends on our package and those of the competitors. I have had very good feelings behind the wheel these last two days and this makes me hope for a good start to the season where we can develop the car during the year. Obviously, collecting as many points as possible is also part of my agenda. »

Despite his five seasons in the discipline, Adrian Sutil is working hard to get his bearings behind the wheel of the VJM06 after a year out of competition. The German must adapt to the new developments in F1 but this task does not frighten the Force India driver. “Sure, I was out for 14 months, but I started F1 in 2007 with only six or eight days of testing. I now have 90 Grands Prix behind me after five seasons and I have a lot of experience. I've trained a lot, I feel relaxed, and the rest will come by itself. (For Pirelli tires), things are as they are. I can't change it but I have to live with it. I always enjoyed facing situations like this. After getting a fourth place (2009 Italian Grand Prix) and failing so close to the podium, I would finally like to be able to get on it. That’s my wish for 2013.”
