Abu Dhabi test – Pato O'Ward sets the best time of the morning

The Mexican was the fastest at the wheel of his McLaren. Among the drivers who ran with the 18-inch Pirelli tires, it was Lance Stroll who set the best time.

Abu Dhabi test – Pato O'Ward sets the best time of the morning

This Tuesday and Wednesday, the stables of Formula 1 are in Abu Dhabi for end-of-year tests. The opportunity for rookies to drive this season's single-seaters and for F1 drivers to test the new 18-inch Pirelli tires which will come into force from 2022. Pato O'Ward stood out at the wheel of his McLaren by setting the best time (1'25″260). The Mexican is ahead Oscar piastri who drives for Alpine (1’25″480) and Nyck de Vries who is at Mercedes (1’25″549). The top 5 is completed by Nick Yelloly with his Aston Martin (1’26″254) and Guanyu-Zhou, newcomer to Alfa Romeo (1’26″263). Liam Lawson (Alpha Tauri) is 6th with a time of 1'26″365.

Among the drivers who rode with the new 18-inch Pirelli tires, Lance stroll set the best time in 1'26″579. The Canadian is placed in 7th position ahead of Red Bull by Juri Vips (1’26″647). Also equipped with new rubbers, Charles Leclerc is 9th (1'26″989) and precedes his teammate Antonio Fuoco (1'27″324). Eleventh, Yuki tsunoda (1'27″348) arrives in front Logan sargeant and Williams (1’27″476). The new world champion Max Verstappen arrives in 15th place (1'28″978), behind Daniel Ricciardo (1’27″508) and Esteban Ocon (1'28″112). Valtteri Bottas (1'29″601), George Russell who discovered his new stable (1'30″134) and Mick Schumacher (1'30″345) bring up the rear.
