Toro Rosso: who to replace Bourdais?

Long planned, the replacement of Brendon Hartley by Jaime Alguersuari as reserve driver at Red Bull/Toro Rosso comes at the right time. Indeed, while Sébastien Bourdais would have learned of his ouster from the smaller of the two teams, the Spaniard could take over at Toro Rosso. Formula driver Renault 3.5 Series, Jaime Alguersuari is having an honorable season and could perfect his learning of car by completing half a season in the elite of motorsport. First Spaniard to win in F3 British in 2008, Alguersuari was also the youngest driver to be crowned champion in this discipline, at 18 years old. The daily El Mundo Deportivo has already reported on the arrival of Alguersuari within the Toro Rosso team.

But other names are also coming for the replacement of Sébastien Bourdais. Bruno Senna, who has already carried out tests in Formula 1, could have his chance, after missing a season at Brawn GP at the start of the year. Giorgio Pantano, regularly cited to return to F1, could also end the season in the vacant seat. Or, to accompany the rise of Sebastian Buemi, Toro Rosso could turn to an experienced driver, David Coulthard, who would not mind a return to the discipline. The German Grand Prix should provide the answers to all these questions.
