Toyota slips away

Very efficient at the start of the season, the Toyotas have noticeably slowed down since the European Grand Prix. In Monaco, the cars of Glock and Trulli will start at the back of the grid, something never seen before this season for the two drivers.

Toyota slips away

Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock eliminated in Q1, this is something new this season. Unprecedented but inexorable as the white and red single-seaters have been marking time since the start of the Monaco weekend. However, John Howett's team had great ambitions after its good debut in 2009.

" We didn't do well all weekend, reacted the Italian driver. In addition, I was hampered in my fast lap in Q1. In any case, we were not competitive. »

But the pole sitter of the Bahrain GP also considers himself harmed by the traffic jams in the streets of the principality: “ It's very disappointing because I was on a good lap at the end of Q1 but I was blocked by another car. Without that, my fast lap would have allowed me to reach Q2. I'm angry but it's true that our performances were disappointing. »

Same disappointment from Timo Glock, who recognizes that the qualifying results are not surprising: “ Since the first lap here, we have had to fight. The sensations are not good and the rhythm is not there. I will do my best on Sunday but, from this position, I have little hope. »

Pascal Vasselon, technical director of the team, confirms that Toyota must get up and analyze this poor performance: “ The weekend is difficult, obviously. There is clearly something wrong with the car. We have to solve this problem. The race will be difficult but we will fight. »
