With 252 Grands Prix contested between 1997 and 2011, Jarno Trulli is well placed to comment on the current situation of the F1.
If Liberty Media, the new owner of the Championship, is racking its brains to improve the intensity of the races (with in particular the prototypes envisaged for the 2021 season where the regulations will evolve), the Italian regrets that the tests offer too repetitive a pattern.
“What is F1 becoming?”, asked Jarno Trulli in Quotidiano.net. Do you realize that the drivers were 10 or 12 seconds off the pole times in Singapore? It's absurd and ridiculous. I imagine the consternation of guys like Kimi (Räikkönen), Lewis (Hamilton) or Seb (Hag) because they know what F1 really was. »
Like many of his colleagues, Jarno Trulli seems nostalgic for the old days when attacks were more common, especially when the fight between manufacturers Michelin and Bridgestone was still in force.
“This F1 allowed you to attack from start to finish, but you now have to pay attention to your fuel consumption, your tires, etc., added the Italian. If we do not intervene quickly, this distortion risks becoming irreversible. I regret it because I love this environment which represents so much in my life. »
