There is not only Ferrari on track this week. The other Italian team, Alpha Tauri, is also on deck. This Wednesday, the Faenza squadra traveled to the neighboring Imola circuit, which will host the 2021 Emilia-Romagna GP on April 18.
Objective: to offer track time again to its new driver, Yuki tsunoda. The Japanese, 3rd in the last championship Formula 2, is preparing to make his debut in the premier category this season.
The winter tests, however, are reduced to a minimum since the riders will only have 3 short days in Bahrain (March 12-14) to refine their preparation. An even more complex situation for beginners like Tsunoda, one of the 3 rookies on the 2021 field with Mick Schumacher et Nikita mazepin in Haas.
After discovering the management of a F1 at the beginning of November with a 2018 Toro Rosso, the 20-year-old driver also took part in the young driver tests in Abu Dhabi in mid-December.
As private tests are closely regulated by sporting regulations, AlphaTauri had to line up a car at least two years old this Wednesday, hence the choice of this 14 STR2019 repainted in the team's new colors. A slightly different choice from Ferrari, which started its rookie Carlos Sainz with the SF71H entered in 2018.
