After leaving the Miami Grand Prix in 8th position following a comeback from the back of the grid, Esteban Ocon is heading, like the whole paddock, to Spain this Friday, May 20. The French driver, who was awarded an “Ocon Tribune” on Wednesday for the next French Grand Prix at Le Castellet (July 22 to 24), can also count on the support of part of his family, present in the stands of the Catalan route..

« Around the circuit, I have most of my family on my father's side, they live next door. It's a home race for Fernando (Alonso. Editor's note) and half a home race for me. So yes, I'm very happy to be back in Barcelona », underlines Esteban Ocon. For this “almost at home” Grand Prix, the Norman wants to confirm his good start to the season with 24 points on the clock, 22 more than his teammate Fernando Alonso. “ We will try to continue this weekend on a route that we know better, even by heart. »

Qualified in 5th position last season, Esteban Ocon is aware that the situation has changed this year with the new technical regulations and the improvements planned for this Grand Prix. “ The features are very different this year, but I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do and also comparing with others because we've seen some interesting new things around us and we'll have a few things too. It's going to be interesting. » After the first free practice session in Spain, Esteban Ocon finished in 11th place behind Fernando Alonso, 5th.
