A Mercedes member positive for Covid-19

Mercedes is in turn affected by Covid-19. The team indicated on Thursday, the day before the first tests for the Eifel Grand Prix, that one of its members tested positive for coronavirus. Mercedes did not give details, it just clarified that it is not a driver, therefore the participation of Valtteri Bottas et Lewis Hamilton in the German test is a priori not called into question.

La Formula 1 has in fact an extremely strict health system, which includes numerous independent bubbles, including within the same team. As a result, a limited number of staff need to be isolated if a member is contaminated.

The affected person at Mercedes will be quarantined as well as all people who came into direct contact with them, within their bubble. This is the second confirmed case in Formula 1 since Sergio Pérez, who was tested positive at the end of July and had to miss two grand prix. As with the Mexican, the affected person will need to be confirmed cured by several tests for them to come out of isolation in Germany.
