Niki Lauda will not be forgotten during the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix. The three-time world champion Formula 1, died Monday May 20 at the age of 70, will be entitled to a minute of silence observed by the paddock and the public 14h, this Sunday, May 26.
F1 will invite the 20 drivers, as well as dignitaries and personalities who played a role in the Austrian's career to this ceremony of contemplation. All these beautiful people will hold a red cap, emblem of the former Ferrari driver or even McLaren. Niki Lauda won the Monaco Grand Prix twice, in 1975 and 1976 with the Team.
Then, the formation lap will be an opportunity to celebrate the life of Niki Lauda a second time. F1, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), the Automobile Club de Monaco (ACM) and the 10 teams invite fans to wear a red cap, send a message on a banner or simply applaud. The most fortunate, who will watch the event from a yacht, will be able to sound the horn of their boat.
These tributes come in addition to the numerous initiatives taken by the teams, such as Mercedes, which repainted the Halo of its cars red. Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) has for its part took Niki Lauda's helmet design for this weekend.
