As soon as the project was mentioned, the first voices were raised against it. The citizen association “Collectif Citoyen 06” created a petition “NO to the French F1 Grand Prix project in Nice!” ». It was launched on Sunday, two days after Stefano Domenicali's declarations on the possibility of a race organized in the city of Nice.
The petition initiated by the citizen collective 06 cited in this article from @NicePresse Let’s be numerous to support her! This GP project F1 à #Nice must obviously be abandoned. https://t.co/JbZ0JPQXAL

On Friday, Stefano Domenicali declared that discussions were underway between the city of Nice and Formula 1 for organizing a race. The CEO of F1 had even announced a first agreement in principle to relocate the French Grand Prix to Nice. The mayor of the city, Christian Estrosi, is also president of the GIP of the French Grand Prix. The latter has so far neither confirmed nor denied Domenicali's statements.
The association “Collectif Citoyen 06”, which defines itself as “an apartisan lobby, not affiliated with a political party, and run by very involved and volunteer people”, stands head and shoulders against the project. She denounces the idea of an F1 race in Nice, which according to the association would go against current environmental concerns.
“While global warming is accelerating and will make the lives of the inhabitants of Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes stifling or even impossible, while the city of Nice is very noisy and polluted, Mayor Christian Estrosi is multiplying projects that go against the grain of emergencies environmental, health and social: support for the Nice airport extension project, and today the Formula 1 French Grand Prix in Nice… No, the territory should not revolve exclusively around economic objectives”, we can read in the description. On Wednesday, the petition already reached more than 1200 signatures on the site change.org.
