A position that will be difficult to maintain according to Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso could be satisfied after the Brazilian qualifiers at Interlagos this Saturday afternoon. Seventh under the checkered flag, the double Spanish world champion will move up one place on the grid with the penalty of Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull). A third line which thus serves as a reference result for the old pilot Ferrari with Woking.

“Definitely, this is the best starting position for us this year, comments Alonso. We had a very good qualification. Yesterday we weren't very happy with the balance and performance, but today, everything is back to normal.

We were able to attack. This is a superb opportunity. We started from the back of the grid in Japan, Malaysia, Austin and Mexico, but each time we finished close to the points. Tomorrow we start sixth, with the possibility of scoring important points. We must now negotiate the race well. »

The Ricciardo threats and Hamilton

Fernando Alonso is nevertheless cautious before making any predictions for tomorrow. The former resident of Renault F1 rightly recalls that Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) should quickly move up in the peloton, thus offering a definite threat.

« I will try to defend as much as possible, although tomorrow we expect a very sunny day and completely dry conditions. It will therefore not be easy to maintain our position. »
