For around ten years, and the release of the documentary “Senna” in 2011, motorsport has been favored by cinema and the small screen. Confirmation of this revival appears with the December 27 release of “Lucky!” », a documentary series of eight episodes of one hour each on the life of Bernie Ecclestone.

The rights to the series have been purchased by several companies: DAZN in Japan, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy and Switzerland, Discovery+ in the United Kingdom and Ireland, ESPN LatAm in Latin America. France does not yet have an official broadcaster, but this will not be long.
“Lucky!” » is produced and directed by Manish Pandey, responsible for the script of… « Senna ". The original soundtrack is provided by Antonio Pinto, already at the helm of the music for “Senna”. Manish Pandey shot nearly 100 hours of rushes over eight weeks with “Mister E.” in his homes in Gstaad (Switzerland) and Ibiza (Spain) during 2020.
"'Lucky!' "is a series I wrote and researched my whole life", declared Manish Pandey to the specialist site Deadline. “This is a unique opportunity to work with Bernie and tell the story of a genius showman and unrivaled businessman who single-handedly created a sports franchise, the F1, which will probably never be done again. »
The series dissects the personal journey of Bernie Ecclestone, from amateur driver to big boss of F1, through his career as manager then team boss with Brabham, and friend of legendary drivers like Jochen Rindt or Niki Lauda.

Still on the Deadline site, Bernie Ecclestone took advantage of this biographical series to criticize the success of another series, “Drive to Survive” on Netflix. “It’s simply an American vision (on F1). In most cases, the public prefers reality”, an aspect which he believes was particularly well taken care of in “Lucky! ". We just ask to see.
