US F1 on time

Things are progressing in the US F1 team which will start in Formula 1 in 2010. Less than six months before the start of next season which will see the arrival of four new teams, the American team is on schedule. “ We've come a long way since launching the team last year and everything accelerated with the signing of the Concorde Agreement. », Explains Ken Anderson, one of the co-directors of the US entity. “ Our headquarters (based in Charlotte) is now completed and operational while the car is in the construction phase. »

While many questions remain regarding the ability of the new teams to be ready for the launch of the Championship in Bahrain on March 14, 2010, US F1 does not seem to have the slightest timing problem. “ Everything is going according to plan, with the first runs taking place in November and a finished car in January ready to run during the 2010 tests “, continues Anderson.

On the other hand, regarding the names of future drivers, US F1 no longer seems so sure of wanting to field two Americans. “ We will undoubtedly be forced to put on hold our plan to have young American drivers ride. The 2010 season is going to be difficult and we are going to need experienced drivers and in the entry stroke », Declared Peter Windsor, the other team manager, at Suzuka.

Several names are currently associated with the Charlotte team to start in 2010. Thus Jonathan Summerton who is racing this season in Formula Atlantic or John R. Hildebrand who won the 2009 Indy Lights championship are drivers who could be associated with US F1. To support one of these two young people, Alex Wurz or Pedro de la Rosa would be expected to occupy the other seat. On the other hand, Jacques Villeneuve will definitely not come to the team.
