USF1 schedules its debut

The future of the US team in Formula 1 has made some observers ask a lot of questions but, based on Peter Windsor's statements, USF1 is moving forward well. The co-founder of the team affirms that the car developed in Charlotte will be on the track at the beginning of February, at Barber Motorsport Park in Alabama. The team obtained an exemption from the FIA in order to be able to perform on a circuit other than those planned for the winter tests (Valencia, Jerez, Barcelona).

“PBecause we are a new team and we are starting from scratch, the first time we will run the car will be in the United States, at the Barber Motorsport Park in Alabama, the circuit designated for us by the FIA ", says Peter Windsor. “ We have the FIA waiver, which is fantastic, because we are not based in Europe. We are the only team based outside of Europe, so it makes sense for us to race for the first time in the United States at the beginning of February. »

The team would thus benefit from three sessions to try out its car, without however being able to compare its performances to those of the other new teams. This is why Peter Windsor plans to carry out some tests in Spain before meeting up with the other teams at the Bahrain Grand Prix (March 12-14).

As for the driver duo who will defend the colors of the US team, Peter Windsor says that everything will be revealed soon. “ We are very close to being able to announce our drivers. We've spoken with some big-name riders over the past couple of months. It?s very difficult to choose among the very good drivers around us. I hate to see this work done, choosing two drivers out of the ten that are available »
