Verstappen: 'No guarantee' of success for Red Bull in Singapore

An urban, technical, winding route with no major straight lines: on paper, the Singapore meeting corresponds well to the qualities of the Red Bull RB 15 with Honda engine.

The Milton Keynes team has a very good track record at Marina Bay since it holds the record for podiums in the city-state with 12 finishes in the top three. Red Bull has always placed a driver in the top 3 since 2010 and in the top two since 2014.

Despite its more than favorable statistics, Max Verstappen, dolphin of Lewis Hamilton in Singapore 12 months earlier, refuses to ignite ahead of the 15th meeting of the season.

« Sometimes you arrive at a circuit that does not suit your car and you win, declared the Batavian. Sometimes you are lucky, sometimes you are very fast. I expect us to be competitive this weekend but there are no guarantees.

You have to succeed in bringing together all the elements and putting them end to end, especially in qualifying. You have to find the right settings, but it's not easy with daytime sessions and nighttime sessions. You must not be trapped. So there are a lot of steps to take before we can talk about signing a big result ».

After an impressive first half of the season, punctuated by a pair of victories in Austria and Germany and three other podiums, Verstappen experienced a more tumultuous return to school.

The Red Bull driver experienced his first retirement of the season in Belgium after a collision at the first corner with Kimi Räikkönen. He experienced a new incident at the start in Italy where he started from the back of the grid due to an engine penalty.
