Verstappen and Räikkönen explain themselves

The duel between Max Verstappen and Kimi Räikkönen for fifth place in the Hungarian Grand Prix livened up the end of the race. Faster than the pilot Red Bull, the 2007 world champion failed to find an opening on the winner of the Spanish Grand Prix who defended energetically.

The battle almost ended badly when Iceman hit the back of the Dutchman's RB12, which spun out at the last moment. The Finn finished the event with a damaged front wing after complaining about his opponent's driving on the radio. The commissioners did not investigate the collision.

“It’s a good thing to finally hear Kimi Räikkönen on the radio, jokes Max Verstappen who occupies sixth place in the Championship, ten points behind Sebastian Vettel. I didn't have any problems, I think the fight remained OK. I only strayed once and it would be really strange if I got penalized. »

“I could see it coming in my mirrors. He was very optimistic in his maneuver. I was inside, he locked his wheels and hit me. It could happen ", adds the Red Bull driver.

Kimi Räikkönen does not have the same opinion, but the pilot of the Team Ferrari kept its calm after the checkered flag.

“It's not up to me to decide if that's okay or not, but I've seen others get penalized for less than that, comments the former world champion who now only has a four-point lead over his teammate Sebastian Vettel. I'm disappointed that I didn't manage to pass him, but the car had good handling and good speed. It's just difficult to overtake here. »
