Verstappen had a connector problem

Max Verstappen indicated that it was a connector problem which blocked him in the pits during the second practice session for the Austrian GP held this afternoon on the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. The Red Bull driver was only able to complete 33 laps, setting the 4th fastest time ahead of his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, less than 4 tenths of the lap record achieved by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes).

“A connector was not connected to the brakes at the start of the session and we had to remove the bottom plate again. Afterwards, the session didn't go too badly. We were able to do the desired program”, reported Max Verstappen.

Max Verstappen also complained about the height of the curbs which he considers too high for the F1 current.

“It's not the track that offers the most grip and the highest speeds of the year. It's difficult when you're in trouble to correct the car without hitting a curb or going into the grass as many drivers saw today, adds Max Verstappen. The yellow curbs are a real challenge and I don't think they are suitable for F1. Cars just aren't designed for that. »

His teammate Daniel Ricciardo also believes that the Red Bull track is particularly demanding.

“The surface offers more grip this year and we really feel it with these new cars, but we lose everything when the grip is no longer there, specifies Daniel Ricciardo. The top five are grouped into 4 tenths and we must hope that it will stay like this tomorrow even if Mercedes should be able to increase the pace for qualifying. »
