Verstappen slowed down by his turbo

Max Verstappen achieved a good result in qualifying for the British GP. The recent winner at Red Bull Ring in Austria took 4th position on the Silverstone grid less than 2 tenths from pole Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) failing at one-tenth of Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and ahead of his teammate by 3 tenths Pierre Gasly.

“I am quite satisfied with this second line, recognizes the Red Bull driver. I wasn't comfortable before the session and I was still looking for the right settings. You have to be confident on this circuit to set good times. We made good progress during testing, but unfortunately I had problems with response time on the turbo and I lost time in slow corners. The result is still a little disappointing if we look at the gaps because I think I could have fought for pole. »

Like his teammate Pierre Gasly, Max Verstappen will start on medium tires unlike his direct opponents who will be on soft compounds.

“We found quite a bit of speed in a straight line and we often perform better in the race. With the good settings found for qualifying, I am confident. The strategy will be very important due to the high stresses that the tires will undergo”, added the Dutchman.
