Verstappen: “My anger was justified”

Max Verstappen did not back down during the press conference held this afternoon in the paddock of the Mexican GP at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

The pilot Red Bull believes that the podium should have gone to him last weekend at the US Grand Prix in Austin (Texas) and that the five-second penalty dropping him one place to Kimi Räikkönen due to exceeding the limits of the trail was unjustified. The Dutchman called the stewards “idiots” during post-race interviews.

“My thoughts are quite similar. Emotions are always strong after the race, especially when you lose a podium that I always think I deserved, said Max Verstappen. The penalty was not correct because everyone went off the track in (several turns). The public appreciated a great maneuver and then they tell you that you benefited from it. My anger was justified. »

“Looking back, I obviously would have used different words but I still think the decision wasn’t correct. I didn’t mean to offend anyone.”, added Max Verstappen.

The reactions took on a considerable scale, Mika Salo, former driver integrated into the college of commissioners at the US GP, even having received death threats.
