Verstappen didn't have to attack

Max Verstappen dominated the Mexican GP without being threatened by his opponents. The pilot Red Bull, who started on the front row, gained the upper hand over the pole sitter Sebastian Vettel at the first corner and subsequently extended his lead after the title contenders hung on.

“The car was fantastic. I knew it since yesterday and we proved it today, recognized Max Verstappen on Canal+. I had to pass Sebastian and I succeeded. I then simply managed my lead and didn't have to use the full potential of my mount. I was reassured to learn that the title contenders had held on. »

Despite his lead, the Red Bull driver remained worried seeing many engines Renault give up the ghost at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez located at altitude.

“I saw many cars whose engines were going up in smoke and giving up and that worried me. Seeing Daniel (Ricciardo) dismount and Toro Rosso (that of Brendon Hartley) on fire, we chose to limit the use of my Power Unit. I had my share of bad luck this year and I was happy that it didn’t happen to me”, admitted the Dutchman.

Max Verstappen, who is celebrating his second success of the season after the Malaysian GP, also had a word for Lewis Hamilton titled at the end of the Mexican GP two races from the end of the season.

“Lewis deserves his fourth title. He was more consistent than the others and he had the best season”, analyzed Max Verstappen.
