Leader of the drivers' championship for the first time in his career, Max Verstappen doesn't seem to be destabilized at all.

Best time in free practice 1 and 2 during the afternoon session, 43 thousandths behind his teammate, the Dutch driver is very satisfied with the behavior of his car for the moment.

“If we look at pure performances, we’re off to a good start to the weekend here, underlines the Dutchman. There were gusts of wind at times, which made things complicated for everyone. During FP1, the car behaved very well.

We tried a different setting in FP2 to see if we could go even faster but personally I don’t think we made the right choices.”

If Verstappen often found himself alone against the armada Mercedes since the start of the season, it seems, after reading the first day, that Perez or in the game in Azerbaijan. Enough to delight the championship leader.

“We're very good as a team here and I'm happy with that. I can't wait to see what tomorrow has in store.". Red Bull also leads the team championship for the first time since 2013.
