This may sound crazy but Max Verstappen (Red Bull) finished these qualifications with a smile despite the 3rd time behind the Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton. Aware of the advantages of the German W12s at Monza, the leader of the world championship was unable to do anything this Friday, settling for the last step of the podium.

« It will always be difficult for us on this route, explained the recent winner of the Dutch Grand Prix. We suffered more than expected in practice but we managed to rectify the situation during qualifying. I am very happy to be 3rd at the finish. I hope we can be closer in the race. You never know what might happen."

Beaten in qualifying, Max Verstappen now has both Mercedes targeted. Third on the starting grid for the Qualifying Race, the Dutchman is now aiming to come back for the Grand Prix on Sunday.

« We will have the 2nd practice session to try to improve our pace on the long runs but it will naturally be more difficult for us, he says. However, I think we can get some points. » There is no doubt that the Dutchman will attack this Saturday to win pole for Sunday's Grand Prix.
