Verstappen still suffering at Portimão

Main threat of Mercedes and in particular Lewis Hamilton in Portimão, Max Vertsappen (Red Bull) couldn't do anything in qualifying.

Struggling with the lack of grip on the Lusitanian track, the Dutchman finished 3rd and was only a spectator of the battle for pole between the two Silver Arrows.

« It wasn't easy driving, he admitted after the checkered flag. I was suffering a lot with the grip. My first lap in Q3 was okay but I went wide at turn 4 (time canceled by the race direction, Editor’s note.).

I was confident that we could put in a good last lap but in the third sector I was hampered by two cars. Then the wind and my lack of grip on the track cost me time. It's like that ».

Obviously disappointed by his performance, Lewis Hamilton's runner-up in the championship hopes to find a solution to compensate for his lack of grip and thus be able to fight against the Mercedes this Sunday.

« We will try to fight with them and see what we can do. I hope I have a little more balance on the car because it hasn't been fun driving here so far ».
