Vettel at Red Bull until 2014!

Pure product of the Austrian “sector” which he joined in 1998, Sebastian Vettel will therefore continue its collaboration with Red Bull over the next four years.

After standing out in 2008 by becoming the youngest winner of a Grand Prix F1 in Monza at the controls of his Toro Rosso, the young German once again marked the annals of the discipline by winning his first title last year at the age of 23 with Red Bull Racing. A performance acquired during the final round of the season in Abu Dhabi which made him the youngest F1 World Champion of all time.

Initially scheduled until the end of this season, the duration of Vettel's contract is therefore extended by three additional years. Thus, the bases of a long-term collaboration were discussed during the winter in order to secure the services of one of the undoubtedly most gifted pilots of his generation.

« It is by mutual agreement that we have agreed to extend Sebastian's contract until 2014, explained Helmut Marko, boss of the Red Bull Jr Team and right-hand man of Dietrich Mateschitz. Both parties wanted to continue their collaboration. Therefore, it didn't pose much of a problem. ».

This puts an end to all the speculation which saw a possible transfer of the young German prodigy to Ferrari or even at Mercedes GP as was recently mentioned. Red Bull Racing would also have renewed the contracts of most of its technical executives for the same period – including its Technical Director Adrian Newey – in order to ensure the continuity of a winning team.
