Vettel: Qualifying tougher than expected

The Hungarian GP is still missing from the list of winners Sebastian Vettel but the pilot Red Bull will have to take advantage of his position on the right side of the grid to get a good start tomorrow at the Hungaroring. The German will start from third place on the grid behind Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) and Romain Grosjean (Lotus) after having difficulty qualifying for Q3, forcing him to use his sets of soft tires. The reigning double world champion does not blame the change in engine mapping imposed by the FIA but admits to having had problems finding the right balance on his RB8.

“It was a tough session for us.”, comments the German, while his teammate Mark Webber did not even manage to qualify for Q3. “We didn't have the speed we hoped for in these qualifications. We used more rubber than initially planned and I only had one set of new soft tires for Q3. My flying lap was good but I no longer had the same sensations as at the end of Q2, which was a surprise, and I was not able to progress. Romain (Grosjean) was in the mix but Lewis (Hamilton) was playing at another level. We know that overtaking is difficult but I hope to make a good start tomorrow. Preserving tires will be essential tomorrow. The result has nothing to do with the engine map. We struggled to find the right balance all weekend. »
