Vettel: Even better than expected at Monza

Sebastian Vettel can only be satisfied with having such a high-performance car at Monza. The Red Bull driver did not expect to see his team dominate qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix to this extent.

Vettel: Even better than expected at Monza

Sebastian Vettel was in the favorite position for pole at the Italian Grand Prix based on his performances in free practice. The Championship leader confirmed these impressions by taking his fourth pole of the season at Monza after completing a lap in 1'23"755, two tenths better than his teammate Mark Webber. The Mercedes having missed their qualifications, the RB9s were the only ones to cross the barrier of 1’24 per lap. This pace is enough to rejoice the three-time world champion who will seek to get a little closer to his fourth consecutive title.

“The car was fantastic this weekend. It’s even better than expected.”, comments the pole sitter of the Italian Grand Prix who achieved his first success in F1 on the Monza circuit in 2008. “We had a very good pace yesterday and we found it again in qualifying with two good runs at the end. It’s a bit surprising to have two cars on the front row, on a circuit where we have had difficult years in the past. We obviously look to have the best setup every year. We are sometimes close and sometimes far away. In any case, we seem very competitive this year because we can catch up with the others on the straights and our car remains competitive in the corners. »

For Sebastian Vettel's rivals, the only hope seems to lie in the weather forecast which indicates the risk of showers for the Italian Grand Prix. Click on this link to see photos from the Italian Grand Prix.
